University of Houston "Shasta" Cougar Paw Hand Sign Sculpture in Brass

$186.00

Brand PRIZE

The hand sign for the University of Houston is made by folding the ring finger of the right hand toward the palm of the hand. It's origins date back to 1953 when Shasta, the University of Houston's Cougar mascot, lost a toe in a cage door. The University of Texas fans mocked the cougar's injury by making the hand sign and U of H quickly adopted it as a symbol of pride.

PRIZE Sculptures are created in brass using the ancient process of lost wax casting and are polished by hand to achieve a high gloss finish.

Each Sculpture comes in an organic cotton drawstring bag and a reusable polishing cloth and a microfiber cleaning cloth are included to polish the sculpture if desired.

The bottom of each Sculpture is felted to protect any surface.

Due to the handmade nature of the product, some variations may occur.
